My theme is Surrealism and the Landscape. I like to paint spontaneous biomorphic imagery but depicting the landscape and seasons is important to me as well. I am originally from Kalamazoo, Mich., born Sept. 12, 1956. I was part of the first generation of TV kids. I especially liked fantasy and sci-fi. I still do. Also, in Michigan they had these things called 'seasons'. In Florida, where I've lived most of my life, we don't have much in the way of seasons. I miss them. I especially miss Winter, with its cold, weird beauty. Music is my main source of inspiration, especially 'mindscape' music, such as classical, mediaevel, electronic, new age and prog rock.

I was born St. Paul MN, and I been an artist for the since I was 5 years old. I start out using charcoals and soft leads eventually graduated to Acrylic paint and then Oil’s, which I now concentrate on. In high school, art was always my GPA enhancing class and in a college, I would make financial ends meet by doing portraits of people and there dogs. Now I use art as a means to express my moods, and my feelings and thoughts on my life and societies values.

Artist Statement:
"Each of my paintings represents my thoughts on things and how I feel. Each painting is a journal entry in my life and how I express myself. ‘Lost’ is a representation of my ex-wife. She was seduced by drugs and a destructive life style and went to a place I could not follow her and were she did not want me to find her. ‘Repentance’ and ‘The Confession’ are representations of how Gods divine light shining down on a persons soul, and how he see’s the person in there purest form. They also represent me, a beautiful soul surrounded by darkness."

I majored in Art in High School and studied all kinds of art. I tried it all! It was then I knew I would be an artist. I am pretty much a self taught artist. I began with the love of lettering and painting in oils. I went on to become a professional calligrapher and even taught the art of calligraphy in two college's Adult Education classes. I was even one of the founders of Scripts & Scribes out of Akron, Ohio. I stopped using oils because of my allergic reaction to the paint and took up watercolors because it was much more challenging. Watercolors are not forgiving. For many years I combined watercolor painting with my calligraphy. In 2003 I was amongst the winners of the Graceful Envelope contest and the winners went on exhibit in the Smithsonian. My winning entry remains in the Postal Museum of the Smithsonian permanently. I also did many miniature watercolors, and designed greeting cards for about 25 years. In 1999 I built my own website: www.csabo.com and I maintain it today. By the year 2000 I thought it might be even more challenging to take some of my miniature paintings and blow them up to a larger size of over 24 inches by 20 inches. By 2003 when I moved to Arizona, I was painting in bright, bold colors, with edges that were made of thicker lines of paint made by pushing the paint to the edge of each petal of a flower. In some cases I would add molding paste for even thicker edges. I loved what I created and I named it my "3-D edges". With every painting I gave each petal depending on the size of the flower a thicker or thinner edge of paint and found it played with the light. I loved the shadows it made and drew attention to the flower even more. It is unique to my style with a little humor thrown in, either in the painting or the title.

I owned my own art galleries and did many art shows, won many awards, designed logos, menus, been on TV, demonstrated for many groups, been guest speaker and did many a commission. I'm still winning awards for my paintings... I'm often asked to be a featured artist for an art magazine or online art website. I was just featured with the Purple Palette Magazine and I just won 2nd Place with the online Dott Art Gallery out of Mechanicsville, VA. My artwork has been published Internationally. My life has always been about being creative and I love what painting does for me but most of all what it does for those who enjoy my artwork. I'm a happy individual so I love to make people smile. I was truly Blessed with a God given talent.
